  1. Where did the free registration go? I need to try out a simplified (yes, with ads even) site before I pay for something I haven't experienced. Of course if I find it useful I will very pay for the service. I just want to make certain that I find it intuitive to play around with and learn from first.

    Hey there Angela,

HanziCraft unfortunately hasn’t had free registration yet. However, I can definitely understand how useful it is to try a product before paying. I’m going to plan to implement a free trail so users could give it a go before paying.

Thanks for the nudge & great idea.

    Niel

  2. First, I like to thank you for this program and it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I found you through "Hacking Chinese" and I am a Student at ChinesePod.

May I suggest an "Add to FlashCards" Deck that corresponds with Anki with Sound?

As a beginning learner to the Chinese/Mandarin Language I find it much easier to study and learn the building blocks, the Radicals but other that the 100 most commonly used Radicals Flashcards that I am using from a download at "Hacking Chinese." There are NONE!

It would be so totally perfect if you had this…

  5. Depending on the corpus, 捷運 is now higher frequency than any other compound listed. In fact, 4 of the first 5 autocompletions I see on google for 捷 start with 捷運

  7. "Pronunciation clue for 辟 (pi4): The component 尸 is pronounced as 'shi1'. It has the same pinyin final."

This is clearly not the same final. It's the same final LETTER as transcribed in pinyin, but that is all. Better would be to rely on zhuyin, where ㄕ and ㄆ
ㄧ have distinct transcriptions. A quick hack would be to not treat pinyin ...hi as the same final as ...i

  8. http://www.hanzicraft.com/character/%E4%A7%B9

應 is a very common character... the fact that it's not included here makes me doubt the data source.

  10. The new phonetic set list looks great. Except, There are a lot of them :( Would it be possible to format it so that the end user could sort them by the amount of phonetic suggestions?

  11. There are radicals that have not been named, like the one in 发. Also, there are words with "invisible" radicals (pages that redirect to empty pages) like in the case of 才. Hope this helps and THANK YOU A LOT for creating such an useful tool (:

  12. I installed HanaMinA and HanaMinB (both appear in my Fonts folder) on Windows 7, restarted, and looked at http://www.hanzicraft.com/character/%E3%87%A0, but the characters still appear as blocks.

What do I need to do?

  14. For 励 we have two Pronunciation Clues:

Pronunciation clue for 励 (li4): The component 一 is pronounced as 'yi1'. It has the same pinyin final.
Pronunciation clue for 励 (li4): The component 力 is pronounced as 'li4'. It has the exact same pronunciation as the character.

The second is obviously more useful than the first, so why not show it first?

  15. In e.g. 喜, we get the Pronunciation Clue that the component 丷 is pronounced as 'xx5'. It has the same pinyin initial. But this is not the case; 'xx5' is clearly a placeholder for a component without a reading, for which reason HanziCraft should ignore them when listing Pronunciation Clues.

  17. You mention that 一's final, "i" is the phonetic hint for 丝, but the two finals are different. 一 uses a long "i" and 丝 uses a short "i".

See the notes on this page.
